Thanos Karapoulios is a Greek visual artist working primarily with fine art photography. His practice investigates the fragile space between perception, memory, and human experience, transforming familiar landscapes into contemplative images that exist between reality and abstraction.

 

Rather than documenting the visible world, Thanos explores photography as a medium of emotional and psychological inquiry. Through monochrome, reflections, intentional camera movement, and long exposure, his work invites viewers into quiet, liminal spaces where certainty dissolves and perception becomes fluid.

 

Across interconnected bodies of work, he has developed a distinctive visual language centred on absence, impermanence, silence, and the shifting nature of memory. His photographs do not seek definitive narratives but open spaces for contemplation, encouraging a personal encounter between the viewer and the image.

 

Since 2023, Thanos has presented his work internationally through galleries and art fairs across Europe, North America, and Asia, exhibiting in Basel, Paris, Berlin, Cologne, Zug, Miami, Rome, Tokyo, Athens, and other international venues. He lives and works in Greece.
